Review of drug advertising on this Web site
All prescription and nonprescription drug advertising on this Web site has been reviewed by either the Pharmaceutical Advertising Acceptance Board or Advertising Standards Canada.
The Pharmaceutical Advertising Acceptance Board (PAAB) reviews prescription and nonprescription drug advertising directed at health professionals. PAAB's role is to ensure that drug advertising is accurate, balanced and evidence-based. PAAB maintains a Code of Advertising Acceptance, and preclears advertising prior to publication to ensure claims meet Code standards. For more information visit the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board web site.
Advertising Standards Canada (ASC), the advertising industry's self-regulatory body, is endorsed by the Therapeutic Products Programme of Health Canada to review consumer-directed nonprescription advertising messages. ASC's Consumer Drug Section reviews copy to ensure compliance with the applicable provisions of the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations and
the Consumer Drug Advertising Guidelines. For more information visit Advertising Standards Canada web site.
Prescription drug advertising is limited to areas of the CMA Web site that are restricted to physicians. As noted above, proof of review by PAAB is required. Prescribing information must be available by a direct hyperlink to such information.
Nonprescription drug advertising may appear in unrestricted areas of the CMA Web site. As noted above, proof of review by PAAB (physician advertising) or ASC (consumer advertising) is required. Related information required by either review agency must be available by a direct hyperlink.
