Grandparents immigrated to the United States during the 1900’s. Married 31 years to Sherry M. Trocino, 3 children, ages 26, 23 and 13. Resident of Loudoun County 29 years.
Education, licenses and skills: BA, Geography, University of Maryland. Graduate Studies in Urban Planning, The George Washington University. Licensed Principal Real Estate Broker, Commonwealth of Virginia. Lively speaking skills in Spanish and Italian. Good working knowledge of French and Portuguese. Learning Papiamentu, the language of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.
Military Service : Veteran, U.S. Navy Submarine Service (reserve).
Business : Director of Operations and Marketing, Aruba Trade Zone Services, NV., the operators of a foreign trade zone located at Queen Beatrice International Airport, Orangestad, Aruba, Dutch Caribbean.
Career Highlights : former Director of Planning and Zoning Administrator, Loudoun County, Virginia. Former Chair, Loudoun County Economic Development Advisory Committee. Many volunteer service areas, including Board of Director seats in service to: The American Heart Association, Catholic Charities of Northern Virginia, Blue Ridge Speech and Hearing Center and the YMCA of Loudoun County.
Political : Twice elected Councilmember, Leesburg Town Council. Appointed honors include: Virginia Municipal League, Legislative Policy Committee; and, National League of Cities, Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
Publications : Frequent fiction and non-fiction articles including, most recently, an article in the magazine, "Virginia City and Town," and an op-ed essay in the newspaper, "Loudoun Times-Mirror." In 1999, Four fiction stories and a poem were printed in both print and electronic magazines. One, "In Aranjuez With Your Love" was award winning.
Joseph Trocino says, "Given time enough, I travel and explore. If nothing else, I am a geographer. I love snow skiing, as well as snorkeling in blue-green waters. I write poetry, short stories and essays. I think of myself as an excellent cook. I look for people to chat with where ever I am.
