About Sam Person
Sam Person says of himself; "I am a “snowbird,” and live seven months in Bonita Springs, Florida, which I
consider my permanent residence, and five months in Bayside, New York, a
suburb of New York City. I am a New Yorker by birth and inclination.
By training, I am a Certified Public Accountant. I have been fortunate
enough in that my professional career utilized that training and yet
provided diversity. I have been a practicing CPA, a municipal government
official, a University professor and dean, and spent 30 years in the
business of helping candidates prepare for the CPA examinations.
I am 68 years old and retired. I enjoy walking, reading history and
biography, and a good cigar with brandy. My interests also include serious
rooting for the New York Yankees and the University of Connecticut
basketball team.
I have been involved in many volunteer efforts over the years, including
fourteen years service on the board of a hospital, including a term as
chairman. I still actively pursue associations with volunteer organizations.
Writing has always interested me, and the dreams of my youth would have led
me to a career as a sports writer, which for various reasons (but with no
regrets) did not happen. Thus, I am devoting retirement time to writing for
my own pleasure, and hopefully for publication, although financial reward is
not a goal. In this connection, I am a regular contributor of letters to the
editorial pages of the Naples (Florida) Daily News, and provide one such
missive every two weeks, limited to 250 words. In addition, I write a
monthly “guest commentary” on local issues for the Bonita (Bonita Springs,
Florida) Banner. These commentaries run from 500 to 1500 words. Over the
past several months I have been writing essays on various topics which
interest me, which is was what led me to find 'The Inditer.'"
The Essays of Sam Person
As for a personal philosophy, Sam Person says,
“Every individual should become all that he or she is capable of being, and
never lose sight of the need to devote some time to helping others.”
