Vignette - The Bucket Brigade
These little stories - call them vignettes - go deep into Rosemary's rural roots. Bill, you and me who have either heard or been there for such events: - i.e.. Grandpa's Big New Barn burned down with all the animals including his top stallion - and prairie fires devastating whole townships - Barns blown to smithereens by lightening strikes and/or twisters, wells running dry, sour mash, animals freezing where they stand and Chinooks that turn the prairies into balmy spring during January and February - are something mighty interesting and exciting to our younger and brighter readers who desire an immersion in social history.
Those who wouldn't appreciate this work probably have been early on kicked in the head by that old blue mule over yonder.
Rosemary illuminates our souls with that memory. Nothing on earth nor heaven can take the place a life well lived in the country. And death there also. With Rosemary we mourn for her dear and loving sister.
This is a fine anecdotal account made by a person who was there. And mighty fine writing to boot.
I like and admire a host of writers. One of heart is seductively compelled to love Rosemary Bowery. Donald Grant DeMan
