takes a well deserved swipe at politicians.
Of course I was more thinking of "foible" in the French sense of the word as being the neck between Mr. Clinton's shaft and the point of his blade, where I suspect we may well discover a major weakness, for that tender length seems to have tripped him up time after time.
In my imagination of mob outrage and retaliation I foresee a throwback to what happened to Huey Long and Mussolini. We had a most outrageous case of a pure-as-the-driven-snow lad, railroaded and jailed for years because the police believed - maybe - that he killed his young innocent neighbor.
In Texas he'd be long dead either at the hands of the mob who wanted him lynched, or the Justice system who jumped to a demanded conclusion. But courts and grand juries have also been known to oppress the notorious for the sake of the mob, while allowing some real nasty - though currently popular - culprits free reign.Daily I observe one poor incandescent jerk after another taking the blame for crimes in which a whole string of government officials and their running dogs have contributed. Whole hospital staffs and particularly their administrators who belong in jail for their utter neglect of people in hazardous jeopardy. Governments who fail to check our safety and are paid enormously to do it. What about those folks? Shouldn't they get their comeuppance?
Much more than the Clintons, I would presume.
And don't tell me about the old days, Richard. Folks turned their heads away from the Butterbox babies, the orphanages and such. Now, of course, it's quite politically correct to dig up the dirt - as deteriorated and unreliable as that evidence has become - and throw some senile old folks behind bars. Break the churches and the government with law suits. Natives mobbing churches, vilifying those who were not in the vicinity when the offenses occurred.
That's what I'm talking about. If you go after the Clintons are you also prepared to look at all officials who hold up some project or other until the correct hands have been greased? All cops who are playing poker while folks get killed in the streets? Teachers who screw up a student or two? People and companies who pay bribes under threat of bankruptcy? Folks who demand extortion and bribes?
If Mr. Clinton is wicked he was not wicked all by himself, was he? Where are the running hounds in this? Who promoted him in the first place, who kept quiet, and who is withholding evidence? Now let's look at Mr. Cretein. Yep, he should go to jail perhaps. What about all those who were involved? Okay, let's put them in there also.
But where are we to find an honest person to take their place? It would be so easy to catch the innocent in that web most would run in fear. Just about anyone with a little money and/or power these days has become fair game for false accusation from one quarter or another. How does one differentiate? Whose story do we believe? How many records have been falsified by the ambitious? Can we trust the prosecutors, or are they making a name for themselves in this process? Can we depend on those collecting evidence? Who winds up with the money and the power?
I am equally outraged by all human skulduggery. I have a friend who wants to indict God for creating the world all wrong.
As I say, Richard, I'm just going out there and build my paper hedge row. Piled high with manure. Just like our world of politics ad infinitum. The only clean spot left is to be found in a vacuum, and Momma said you can discover that between most people's ears. It's just that now I prefer to leave it like it is. Young guys and your female counterparts can take over from here.
Smiles, and good hunting.
