A reply to Kimit Muston re the Florida Fandango

....by Richard Koss

Kimit, you just don't give up do you? Please! Go back to writing about local politics! At least I get a laugh or two. One thing consistent about liberals and liberal thinking - they never let facts interfere with their mantras and whining.

And when it comes to hypocrisy, they just ignore it, unless it applies to conservatives. Here are some facts: "All we want is to count all the votes," they said. But they don't care that overseas military ballots were thrown out because of military mailing procedures that made it impossible for postmarking. Of course they know Republicans get about 65% of the military vote. Then they sued to throw out absentee ballots because a vendor screwed up in putting ID numbers on the applications. What's the difference who put the numbers on the applications as long as the ballots were properly cast?

As for the "undervotes," etc. All the votes were counted at least twice. Those 45,000 (the number keeps going up) votes you and the other whiners say were never counted, don't exist. These ballots, erroneously referred to, were rejected by the machines because they were either punched twice or not at all. How can it be fair to count a ballot that wasn't punched? Who was it not punched for? What about the 94,000,000 other votes cast in the other states? How many of those ballots were rejected for the same reasons? There were other states with close final margins. Why not go back and look at those? I won't even dignify the absurdity of the "dimpled" ballots and hanging chads. My daughter lives in Palm Beach county and she told me two, nice, elderly Jewish ladies asked her:" Who didn't you vote for?"

For years, the liberals have embraced liberal activist jurists, obviously, because they were able to create laws that could never make it through the legislature. Well, they were not disappointed by the partisan Florida Supreme court, who went way out of their way to decide to make law in Florida, ordering recounts after the election was ended, and not even offering a clue as to what counting standards should be applied. You had every county applying a different standard, while Democrat canvassing boards and Democrat election officials were controlling the show, even asking the press to leave. No wonder the federal Supreme Court saw this as a joke and put a stop to it. Now the federal Supreme Court is accused by the media and the rest of the liberals, as suddenly being activist, for interfering with the rights of the state Supreme Court, who took an activist role in disregarding Florida election laws. I think there's a lot of confused liberals out there today.

If George W. Bush never accomplishes anything of significance, (which would put him about even with Clinton) at least he will probably appoint a couple more conservative Supreme Court justices to start the pendulum back the other way. I'm also looking forward to seeing Alec Baldwin, Rosie O'Donnell, Barbara Streisand, and Julia Roberts leaving the country as promised. Anybody else want to join them? Why not ask Martin Sheen and Ed Asner?
