What personal and business characteristics would you say are required to own and operate a successful Aboriginal Business?

WAM Ojibway Originals: Outgoing, friendly, people person, salesman.

T&T General Contracting: Hard worker, be energetic, get out there, keep busy, look around,
                         don't take no for an answer, go back a couple of weeks later,
                         know how to talk to people.

Rama Moccasin & Craft Shop: Persistance, don't give up, lots of hours the first five years,
                            seven days a week, lots of patience with people, especially
                            the pushy ones.

The Old Indian: A desire to be self-sufficient, entrepreneurial spirit, consistant,
                positive attitude when it's not going as well as hoped, other financial
                income source while getting started, have an understanding of accounting
                fundamentals, ability to calculate a return on investment.

Mnjikaning Art Studio: Personal - Total commitment, support from family, willingness to
                                  work, take advice offered. 
                       Business - Take advantage of available training, make time and seek
                                  it out, access resources in the Native community, access
                                  other Native businesses, pick their brain, they will share,
                                  sharing of experiences.

Iron Horse Iron Works: Have to have a very outgoing personality, people love to buy art
                       from characters.  Christine drives a turquoise Cadillac in the summer
                       proving that she is a character.  People person.  Be very honest, 
                       create from the heart, no compromising.  Have to be dependable,
                       delivering on time.  Have to be very flexible.  Give back to your
                       customer more than they expect, so they leave with a "Wow, that was
                       a pleasant experience!".
