Early Industry: Case Studies

We can all learn from past examples—Alberta has an interesting history that we can both learn about, and learn from. Industry in Alberta has changed significantly in the past 100–150 years, from the non-mechanized, and often dangerous coal mines of the late nineteenth century, to today's technologically sophisticated and unionized coal mining industry.

These early industry case studies are vignettes of Alberta's Industry ingenuity at a time when industry in the province was brand new. They tell the story of some of Alberta's earliest entrepreneurs, and also help uncover the path Alberta took to the prosperity it sees today.
