Alberta

Alberta was originally built around agriculture. But Alberta underwent a major transformation from an economy based primarily on agriculture to one based on energy in the post-war era. 

The oil and gas discoveries in Alberta produced many oil and gas products and spin-offs and had numerous linkages with other sectors of the economy. Manufacturing products, such as steel and pipe, were in great demand. The construction of pipelines to move oil and gas was an important stimulus to Alberta and Canada's economies. Refineries and petrochemical plants also grew as a result of the secure and plentiful supplies of oil and gas. Also of importance to local economies was the wide range of service industries which developed to support oil and gas exploration and development.
