Fuel Dyes

Gas DyesDyes used in tax-exempt fuels vary from province to province across Canada, causing inefficiencies and barriers to inter-provincial commerce. Based on the Fuels and Lubricants group's unique combination of expertise and independence, ARC was selected by industry, dye manufacturers and various government jurisdictions to assist in developing and implementing a common national fuel dye standard. In 1998, Alberta tendered for the procurement of this common dye standard, and in the process received help from ARC in identifying issues related to technical specifications. ARC continues to assist in addressing these issues and in planning for future developments in the evolution of a common fuel dye system.
