
Brigadier General A.B. McRae, Quarter Master General, to Sir George Perley, Minister of Overseas Military Forces: Request for Instructions Concerning the MacAdam Shovel, March 31, 1917
Totally useless as a trenching tool or shield, the shovel was soon set aside as surplus equipment. This memo, annotated by Perley, decided the fate of tons of metal to be put to better use.
