Sir Sam Hughes, Minister of Militia and Defence, to Sir Robert Laird Borden, Prime Minister of Canada: Letter of Resignation, November 11, 1916
Realizing that Borden was not going to back down, Hughes offered his resignation but could not resist the temptation to refute the arguments offered by Borden in his November 9 letter. Satisfied with Hughes’resignation, Borden did not reply to this letter.
