Students who trained to fly in Canada were subject to a rigorous mix of theoretical and practical lessons on flight. Canadian flight schools produced many renown flying aces of the First World War. However, Canada also was home to aviation innovators such as J.A.D. McCurdy and Wallace Turnbull.
