The GC RMAP encompasses the core set of elements necessary to ensure the authenticity, reliability, integrity and useability of records as espoused by ISO International Standard 15489-1 and ISO Technical Specification 23081-1.

The following table uses metadata outlined in the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Guidelines for Metadata Application Profiles in the Government of Canada to describe the application profile itself. This set of metadata follows the format advocated by ISO 11179 Information Technology - Metadata Registries and allows for the inclusion of the description in a future metadata registry.
