Introduction
Launched in May 2011, the Recordkeeping (RK) Methodology responds to the requirements of TBS' Directive on Recordkeeping [www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=16552] for identifying information resources of business value and recordkeeping controls. At the same time, it provides Government of Canada (GC) institutions with disposition authorities that reflect the realities of the digital office. The RK Methodology benefits from rapid results using a risk-informed approach and a highly collaborative process between LAC and GC institutions.
The RK Methodology was jointly created and developed by Library and Archives Canada and On Second Thought Advisory.
RK Methodology Tools and Guides
The RK Methodology includes a suite of efficiency tools and guides that are adaptable to the unique needs and complexity of each institution. The RK Methodology will be available to all GC institutions in a phased approach. Check back frequently to receive ongoing updates on best practices, FAQs and communications materials.
