Discussion :Can't believe no one knows about this
Commentaire :Don't be such a sceptic. The site is really very good and I guess many people are viewing it.

I would like to ask something - in the bottom line, what is the exact difference between technological determinism and medium theory, and where can we map McLuhan and Innis more appropriately?

Discussion :Can't believe no one knows about this
Commentaire :This is an excellently prepared site and it's a shame that no one is taking advantage of this forum. It's too bad, I was hoping to write a book about this kind of stuff but I guess there's no market for it.

Commentaire :There is a typo in Mcluhan's biography: in the listings of his published works, it is written "The Medium is the MASSAGE". Répondre

 Discussion :McLuhan's Catholicism
Commentaire :I enjoyed reading this site. Most of the entries are clear and concise. My only concern is with the authors' dismissal of McLuhan's Catholicism. They write about the "well-founded charges that McLuhan's utopian views on new media are [amongst other things] typically Catholic in their mysticism and communalism...." Such remarks -- not atypical amongst many of McLuhan's commentators -- betray a very shallow understanding of Catholic intellectual history. It would be nice for a change for these McLuhan scholars to actually read some of the seminal work of those Catholic thinkers who profoundly shaped McLuhan's ideas. These include Aquinas, Chesterton, and Teilhard de Chardin. Pour en savoir plus >>
