Background for Agenda Item 2.7 Syntax for how to respond to an Estimate

I have found a comment in the IPIG Profile (Annex B.1.1 in 6th Draft) that we missed discussing at the last IPIG meeting:

[SYNTAX NEEDED FOR HOW TO RESPOND TO AN ESTIMATE]

It follows this guideline:

If the ... Requester selects Estimate as an ILL-Service-Type, the User {OOPS, THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE Responder} shall indicate in the Note field whether the request is for an estimate of a loan or a copy/non-returnable, etc.

  1. In which parameter should this information be carried? (Both are ILL-String] ILL-ANSWER.responder-note or ILL-ANSWER.results-explanation.estimate-results.cost-estimate
  2. Is a predefined syntax needed here?
  3. If so, does anyone have a suggestion on how this syntax would be structured? Do we follow the formatting style similar to what has become standardized in the profile, i.e., <iLL-service-type1:cost-estimate; iLL-service-type2:cost-estimate>
    Example:
    Loan:$3.50;Copy:$10.00
  4. Another related issue: "cost-estimate" is defined as an ILL-String. But is the data implicitly "Amount" and thus needs some sort of specification of the currency in which the cost-estimate is given? Or is it really just a string?
