    Sequence Validation and Repeated APDUs

    Issue raised by:

    Mark Wilson, TLC, 25 November 1997

    Synopsis:

    ISO 10161-1:1997 8.2.7 2nd paragraph, 3rd sentence reads:
    "No checking is performed for repeated APDUs (see 8.2.8)."
    What does this mean?
    A) "If out of sequence, don't check if the APDU is a repeated APDU."
    or
    B) "If a repeated APDU, there is no need to check whether the APDU is out of sequence."

    Response:

    A) is correct. The APDU sequence validation is performed first. If this determines that an APDU is out of sequence, then there is no need to check if the APDU is a repeated APDU.
