These agreements, known as Functional Profiles, provide implementors with a standardized set of agreed choices that will allow software products to interwork with other software products designed to support the same profile.Various types of profiles and less formalized agreements (International Standardized Profiles, Internationally Registered Profiles, Implementors' Agreements) have been developed for the Interlibrary Loan Application standards.
International Standardized Profiles (ISP)An International Standardized Profile (ISP) is an internationally agreed-to, harmonized document which identifies a standard or group of standards, together with options and parameters, necessary to accomplish a function or set of functions. ISPs are commonly established for sets of telecommunications service and protocol standards, but the concept could possibly be applied elsewhere. Internationally Registered Profiles (IRP)An Internationally Registered Profile (IRP) , is a profile that has been reviewed for technical conformance by the standards group responsible for the application protocol(s) to which the profile pertains.
