The Participants -- Autobiography, Biography and Reminiscence: The Government Side
There are a plethora of accounts by Campaign participants with the government forces. As might be expected with a part-time volunteer militia, among officers and men were a number who would later go on to prominence in Canadian public life -- members of Parliament, municipal worthies in both eastern and western Canada, Canada's first general and a future Governor-General. Many wrote memoirs or were subjects of biographies. Senior officers used their memoirs to justify their actions or condemn other officers.
