Preservation

Library and Archives Canada holds a vast collection in a wide range of formats, including both digital and analog materials. Traditional archival and library approaches to preserving paper documents, films and other non-digital materials need to be maintained alongside strategies designed to preserve relevant digital material for the long-term. Physical and virtual preservation and access, both now and in the future, will need to exist side by side. All of this places considerable pressure on LAC's capacity to fulfill its preservation mandate.
