Gazeta Katolicka is a unique source of information about the Polish community in Canada. Apart from making Polish, Canadian and world news available in Polish, this newspaper was also a communication link for Poles scattered throughout Canada and an invaluable source of information about Canadian laws and customs.

Letters from readers and community reports published in Gazeta Katolicka provide information about the development of Polish settlements in Canada; the process of assimilation of Poles into the Canadian society; the problems they faced; how they interacted with other immigrants and with the Canadian society at large; how they organized themselves; and how they struggled to have their voices heard.

None of the other Polish newspapers in Canada offer such a wealth of information about the lives of the early Polish-Canadians and the establishment of the Polish community throughout Canada.
