Scope and content

Sub-series consists of files created by the Dominion Lands Branch, Ottawa, although some were originally created by the Survey Office of Dominion Lands, Manitoba and by Dominion Lands Office, Winnipeg, but were integrated to the M.A. series afterward. The files mainly pertain to land settlements awarded to Métis and Original White Settlers under section 32 of the Manitoba Act. They contain correspondence with the Department of Interior, applications or claims for letters patent under the Manitoba Act and land assignments. Usually the land description (parish and lot) and name of claimants are given. The files are arranged numerically from M.A.2 to M.A.10614.
