Scope and content
Sub-series consists of Métis scrip registers and ledgers created and maintained by the Accounts Branch of the Department of the Interior. The records include Scrip Order Ledger No. 1, 1900-1924 (Vol. 1754) and Scrip Order Ledger No. 2, 1900-1915 (Vol. 1755). In these records, each entry provides the date, file number, reference, particulars, debit, credit and balance. In the second part of the ledgers each entry gives reference, number of scrip, amount of scrip, total, date of application, agency etc., also keeping records of Alloway and Champion, Imperial Bank of Canada, Osler Hammond and Nanton. The sub-series also contains Cancellation Scrip Record No. 5, 1886-1915 (Vol. 1756). Each entry in this volume contains: date of issue, date of return, number of scrip, class of scrip, face value, folio, number of acres and amount. Three books, Scrip Record No. 1, 1885-1900 (Vol. 1757); Scrip Record No. 2, 1885-1901 (Vol. 1758); Scrip Record No. 3, 1901-1918 (Vol. 1759), containing Métis Scrip and Military Bounty Scrip, are also included in this sub-series. Each entry in these books provides the following: file number, date of scrip, scrip number and amount. A final record found in this sub-series is a Scrip Record Journal, 1895-1924 (Vol. 1760). Each entry in this journal contains the following: date, particulars, credit, debit and balance.
