Scope and content

Sub-series consists of records relating to the granting of Bounty Land Certificates to volunteers of the South Africa war. The records include stubs of Bounty Land Certificates numbers 1 to 7428 (Volumes 1645-1646). Each stub contains the name, place, date and Military Warrant number. The sub-series also contains an alphabetical index to Volunteers or Substitutes for warrants (Aperture cards book no. 53) and registers of warrants 1 to 7370 (Aperture cards books numbers 54-57). These warrant numbers correspond to the application numbers for Volunteer Bounty, 1908.

These warrant numbers correspond to the application numbers for Volunteer Bounty, 1908. These applications can be found by number in the Department of Veterans Affairs fonds (RG38, R1183-0-7-E) volumes 117-135.

Dates of creation note
The registers and indexes in this sub-series were filmed by a successor to the Department of the Interior before being transferred to the National Archives in the early 1970's. The originals were then destroyed.
