Newspaper (8 pages) with text and print images, supplement to the Carnival Number of The Montreal Daily Star. Articles describe the winter carnival in Montreal as an important, popular and entertaining event, also describing the activities of the Montreal Snowshoe Club and Montreal Tandem Club. Articles also discuss the "storming of the Ice Castle", tobogganing, children's activities, the maze, and ice skating. Also included are the words to several "snowshoe songs": "The Montreal Club", "The St. George Club", "Emerald Club", "Le Club Canadien", and "A Winter Fancy". Additionally, there is an article about the Parliament Buildings, with illustrations of the Parliament Houses at Montreal, Toronto and Quebec. On page 8, there is the official programme for the events of the Montreal Carnival, Feb. 7-12, 1887, as well as a poem called "The Winter Spirit (the origin of the ice palace)" by Helen Fairbairn.
