Sub-series consists of cancelled land scrip notes which were issued to Métis residents of the North-West Territories by the Department of the Interior in exchange for aboriginal title. The scrip was issued in notes of 240 acres, 160 acres, and 80 acres and could be applied against Dominion lands which had been declared open for entry.

Finding aid 15-13 is a typed file conversion list. Land scrip notes retained by the National Archives are grouped according to the amount of the scrip (i.e., 80 acres, 160 acres, or 240 acres), and in numerical order (i.e., the registration number) within each group. Finding aid FA15-13 will guide researchers to the volume in the Department of Interior fonds where the note is stored; but to use this finding aid researchers must know the scrip number. To find the note awarded to a particular claimant when the registration number of the scrip note is unknown, researchers should first refer to the delivery registers (see, Registers and indexes relating to Métis and Original White Settlers land records sub-series within this fonds, RG15-D-II-8-m, and specifically volumes 1518, 1519, and 1520) to obtain the scrip note number, and then to finding aid FA15-13 to find the volume number where the note is stored. 15-13 (Papier)
