Scope and content
Series consists of a courtship letter of Coleman's parents, 1852; letters of introduction and a note relating to her emigration, 1884; incoming correspondence, 1890-1914; clippings and other contemporary biographical information on her; material on the Canadian Women's Press Club; registration forms for Bedlington terriers, of which Coleman was a noted breeder; and other material. Correspondents include Lady and Lord Aberdeen, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, R.A. Alger (the US Secretary of War during the Spanish-American War, 1898), and the actor and theatrical producer John Martin-Harvey. Two scrapbooks of world and Canadian news, 1870-1904, are also included. While these scrapbooks cannot be clearly attributed to Coleman, they were found among her papers and may have been available for her reference.
