Scope and content

Series consists of mainly of correspondence arranged into subject files and in rough chronological order. The files also include memoranda, reports, pamphlets and clippings. The subjects cover a wide variety of topics, including political matters in all the provinces and territories, canals, Indian matters and railway affairs. There are also subject files from and about prominent political, religious and business figures, as well as files on such unusual topics as alpaca farming and scientific butter making. Oversize material in Vols. 600, 620, 623, 624, 635-765 and 801-803 includes posters and honorary addresses from various communities and organizations across Canada.
