Scope and content
Series consists of records accumulated by the Directorate of History (DHist) and its predecessors primarily for use in writing official histories of Canada's armed forces. Biography / Administrative history
The Directorate of History (DHist) was formed in 1964 by amalgamating the Army Historical Section with the offices of the Air Historian and the Naval Historian. After integration the Directorate was attached to the Chief of the Defence Staff, but was shifted to the responsibility of ADM Policy and Communication in 1990. In 1996, ADM Personnel took responsibility for DHist. (December 1, 1997) General Inventory RG 24
