Scope and content
Series consists of returns, nominal rolls and paylists created and/or maintained in the Office of the Adjutant General of Upper Canada. The Adjutant General, in his role as intermediary between the governor and the militia officers, was responsible for ensuring that returns and nominal rolls were produced regularly. The series includes annual returns and nominal rolls for the Upper Canada Militia, weekly returns of the Embodied Militia during the period 1837 to 1843, daily states of the Incorporated Militia at Toronto during the period 1837 to 1839, and paylists, nominal returns and accounts for the Upper Canada Militia during the War of 1812.
