Biography / Administrative history
The West Coast Agency in British Columbia was established by Order-in-Council, 3 April 1881. The agency headquarters was located at the following sites: Alberni (1882), Ucluelet (1885-1886), Alberni (1895-1916), and Port Alberni (1938-1969). The West Coast Agency was divided on 1 April 1970, with the southern portion of the Agency becoming part of the new South Island District and the northern portion becoming part of the new North Island District office.
