Scope and content
Series consists of records from the new registry system created in 1969 when the Department of Trade and Commerce and the Department of Industry were amalgamated to form the Department of Industry, Trade and Commerce. In keeping with the system established in 1961, a block number was assigned to a specific branch or programme. For example, all registry files starting with 45 were created by the Electrical and Electronics Branch. In many cases, correspondence from previous registries was brought forward into this system.
