Scope and content
Series consists of reports of the Audience Research Service prepared from information received from companies such as the Broadcasting Bureau of Measurement and A.C. Neilsen, in addition to panels of listeners regularly consulted by the CBC. They have been made available by the head office, but originate from Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. These records show ratings and the general public's degree of appreciation of CBC's broadcasts and those of its main competitors in various Canadian markets.

Biography / Administrative history
The Audience Research Service of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was created in 1954, with the appointment of a director of research at headquarters in Ottawa. Initially, the Service's role was to co-ordinate the analyses of statistics originating from outside enterprises and carry out research on request. Later, a chief of research was added to both the English Services Division and the French Services Division of the CBC, working in Toronto and Montreal respectively. Currently, the Service has three administrative centres - Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto - which serve the production and management units and meet the requests of the branch, in addition to conducting special studies.
