Scope and content

Series consists of selected individual case files from the Correctional Service of Canada. The files generally include correspondence, reports, a brief description of the crime committed and the sentence imposed, documents relating to the granting of parole and other official penitentiary material relating to a prisoner's conduct during his term of incarceration. Among the earliest case files, are those relating to the imprisonment of Chief Poundmaker and Big Bear for their participation in the Riel Rebellion of 1885.
