Biography / Administrative history

Following the creation of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in 1966, agencies were joined to form larger administrative units called districts. In 1967 the Bersimis and Seven-Island Agencies amalgamated to form the Sept-Iles District Office. This office was closed April 1, 1988 and the responsibility for the bands formerly attached to this office was transferred to the Quebec Regional Office.
