Additional information

The accession consists of records created by the operational divisions of the RCMP, as well as Headquarters Division, which contain routine investigation information relating to occurrences investigated by the RCMP, or to unsubstantiated information being evaluated to determine if it relates to an actual occurrence. The records were created in the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Yukon Territory, and Ontario (G Division, H Division, J Division, K Division, L Division, M Division, and O Division) and at RCMP Headquarters in Ottawa and in the Liaison Office in Washington D.C., in the United States. The records include some files on the Halifax Police strike, motorcycle gangs, smuggling, including cigarette smuggling by Natives, demonstrations and protests by woodcutters in New Brunswick, and seal hunters in Prince Edward Island, files on FLQ terrorist activities, and several on Nazi War Criminals, a file on a highjacking in November 1971, and files on air crashes, and the Ku Klux Klan.

These are the textual operational records of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Video and audio cassettes were removed from some of the case files included in this accession, as was documentation reating to pardons. Similar case files were accessioned in microfiche.

This accession contains files which were microfiched by the RCMP for preservation purposes.

This disk is related to file in RG 18, Vol. 7491, file 85-556.
