Biography / Administrative history

The Accountant of Contingencies was a unit of the Department of Finance that reported directly to the deputy minister. This unit confirmed the accuracy of designated small expenditures before payment was authorized. The Accountant of Contingencies also controlled the service responsible for cleaning public buildings in Ottawa. RG19 General Inventory
