Scope and content

Series consists of records relating to the settlements of claims for losses suffered during the Rebellion of 1837-1838 in Lower Canada. They consist of claims, correspondence, reports, proceedings and returns of judgements rendered on claims investigated. Indexes of claimants can be found in volumes 3792-3793, 4000 and 4002. These records have become a part of the Department of Finance fonds because of the department's role as a central agency whose terms of reference extend to financial matters across all government activities.
