Sub-series consists of correspondence of various officials relating to the financial aspects of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. These records have become a part of the Department of Finance fonds because of the department's role as a central agency whose terms of reference extend to financial matters across all government activities.

Biography / Administrative history

The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan was an agreement signed in December 1939 by Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, whereby Canada became the focus of an Empire-wide scheme to train aircrew. This undertaking represented a substantial Canadian contribution to the Allied cause during the Second World War. RG19 General Inventory
