The immediate post-war also a re-organization of the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, with two new Assistant Dominion Statistician positions created - Administration and Research. As the Bureau grew, more Assistant Dominion Statisticians were appointed, with responsibility for other divisions and branches. In 1971, the Statistics Act changed the name of the organization to 'Statistics Canada', the title of the leader to 'Chief Statistician' and thus this position became 'Assistant Chief Statistician'.
