This accession consists of records created by the Canadian Immigration Service. These records are all on microfilm and include C.1.9 forms and indexes related to Chinese immigrants. In addition, there are registers pertaining Chinese and Japanese immigration. Finally, the accession includes passenger lists, lists of seamen who deserted or were rejected, landed immigrants index, ship notification of arrival and 50B forms. (50B forms are notice of steamship arrival. They include the following information; ship name, place of departure and arrival, number passengers, port, steamship line and date. As well, this form documents the number individuals who were admitted, detained and rejected.) Many of these microfilm reels are duplicates of other records. As well, a large portion of these records are not open to the public because of Privacy Act restrictions.

Custodial history

This accession contains a variety of records that require some selection. Some of the duplicates will need to be destroyed.
