Scope and content

File is comprised of an album holding 116 albumen prints by Edouard G. Deville taken in 1886 at various places along the route of the Canadian Pacific Railway in Alberta and British Columbia. Views include: Banff, Alberta; Rogers Pass, Illecilliweet River, Valley and Canyon, Albert Canyon, Kamloops, Yale, Coal Harbour, Vancouver and Victoria Harbour, British Columbia. Subjects include: lumbermen's camp, Chinese camp, Chinese district of Victoria, British Columbia, Indian shanties, mountains including Cascade, Stephen, Alberta; Denis, Macdonald, Selkirks, British Columbia; CPR #315, CPR Wharf at Owen Sound and Port Arthur, Ontario. In addition, there is also a portrait of Sir David Lewis Macpherson (1818-1896) on page 1.
