Scope and content
Album documents the visit of Lieutenant-General Sir Sam Hughes, Minister of Militia and defence, to the troops in France, August 1916. This includes crossing the English Channel aboard H.H.S. Tartar, visiting Paris, touring captured trenches, visiting the town of Arras. Includes prominent individuals; Lord Rothermere, Pres. Poincaire, Sir Max Aitken, Brig.-Gens. Garnet Hughes and J.F.B. Seely. Individual captions included. NPC holds original negative for forty of the photographs.
