Biography / Administrative history

The Financial Institutions and Markets Division was one of three divisions under the direction of the Financial Sector Policy Branch. A principal responsibility of the division was for policy development with respect to the regulatory framework applicable to federally regulated institutions. This involved responsibility for leading the staff work on financial institutions regulatory reform. In this role, the division interacts with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, the Bank of Canada, and responsible bodies at the provincial and international levels of financial institutions. The division also provided current analysis of developments that had implications for Canadian institutions and markets.
