Biography / Administrative history

The Manitoulin Island Agency in Ontario was established 23 June 1938 (order in council 1436-23) with the merger of the Gore Bay and Manitowaning agencies. On 1 April 1972 the Manitoulin Island Agency became the Manitoulin Island District. Finding aid 10-157: Guide to Indian Affairs Field Office Organization in Ontario, 1845-1990.
