Scope and content

Sub-series consists of a soundex card index to the names of some of the immigrant children arriving in Canada, 1892-1932. The names appear in lists collected in Immigration Branch subject files relating to specific juvenile immigration schemes and sponsoring organizations such as the Barnardo, Middlemore, Macpherson, Cossar and Quarrier Homes, the Salvation Army, the Church of England Waifs and Strays Society, and others.

Most or all of the files on which the lists are found are in the First central registry system sub-series, (MIKAN 134829, RG76-B-1-a). A few of the file parts indexed may later have been destroyed.

Dates of creation note
This card index was apparently compiled or completed in 1959, when the other Records of Entry were microfilmed under microfilm authority M6-62. The original cards were destroyed after filming.
