This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Sub-series consists of central registry files created and/or maintained by the Nova Scotia Regional Office. Linked accession with BAN 1998-00151-2 contains ca. 2.1 m of unprocessed immigration subject files from 1990 that had been maintained by the Halifax Regional Office in the 8000 file block.

Biography / Administrative history
The Nova Scotia Regional Office in Halifax was responsible for overseeing the implementation of all of the Department's programs and services to the public at the local level. It also provided advice regarding local conditions and issues to national headquarters. Some of the areas that were dealt with at the regional level included: settlement, family sponsorship, adoptions and marriages.
