Scope and content
Sub-series consists of photographs of the United States documenting the administration of public lands and resource development in close proximity to Canada. The photographic sub-series was originally compiled from federal sources including various sub-agencies and survey branches of the Department of the Interior. Some photographs may have been originally acquired from private sources and independent photographers from Canada and the United States. Photos are organized alpha-numerically as follows. US-8 series consists of one photograph of a scenic view taken at Olga, Orcas Island, U.S.A. No source or photographer is indicated. US-12 series consists of photographs documenting cross boarder transportation networks. Photos of buffalo being loaded on to trains. Sources include the Canadian National Parks Branch of the Department of the Interior. No photographers are indicated. US-15 series consists of one photograph of St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York City. No source or photographer is indicated. US-16 series consists of photographs documenting American historic sites and monuments. Includes photos of the Sea Gull monument erected by Mormon pioneers in Utah, 1913. No sources or photographers are indicated. US-23 series consists of one aeriel photograph of the locks at Sault St. Marie, Michigan. Photo taken by the Royal Canadian Air Force in collaboration with the Surveys Branch of the Department of the Interior.
