Scope and content
The series consists of thirty two (32) black and white archivally processed portrait photographs, taken during the period 1988-1990, by David Neel Jr., British Columbia native Indian artist (b.1960). These photographs were selected from a series of fifty five (55) portrait images entitled "Our Chiefs and Elders", first exhibited in 1990, which document the leaders of British Columbia's native Indian communities. The portfolio depicts men and women in either traditional / ceremonial regalia or non-native everyday dress or both.
